How to Stand on a Sadhu Board for the First Time
Share
Recommendations for beginners
If you're new to Sadhu board practice, this guide will help you begin your journey with clarity and confidence.
Atmosphere
Prepare a space for your Sadhu nail board meditation: lay out a yoga mat, light candles or aroma sticks, and play relaxing music. A calm environment enhances the effects of nail board meditation and supports your focus.
Lead-Up
Stand in front of the Sadhu board and visualize yourself standing on the nail board for feet. Ask yourself: “What do I expect from this practice today?” Form an intention for your Sadhu board practice. Take a few deep breaths before stepping onto the nail board and immersing yourself in the experience.
Standing on Nails
With help or on your own, place one foot on the Sadhu board, shifting your weight onto it. Then, place the other foot carefully. Distribute your weight evenly so the nails press into your entire foot surface.
Important: Do not change your foot position during the nail board standing practice — doing so can restart the pain response and shorten your session.
Practice
Focus on your breath. Stretch your head upward, stay aware of your body and surroundings, and tune into the positive effects you expect from this Sadhu nail board meditation. This helps calm the nervous system and anchor your presence.
Duration of Practice
For the first time, aim to stand for at least 1 minute. Each new session, try increasing your time by 30 seconds.
If it’s too intense barefoot, wear thin cotton socks. Once you reach 5 minutes, the pain will ease and you'll likely be able to continue your Sadhu board practice for much longer.
End of Practice
Step off the Sadhu board slowly with an exhalation, using support if needed. Feel the surface beneath your feet. Sense your body. Thank yourself — and the universe — for this nail board experience, and notice any changes in your energy, mood, or awareness.
